  • Incident occurred at Arvind Kejriwal’s Delhi residence on Monday

In a significant turn of events, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has publicly acknowledged and condemned the assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal, allegedly by the Personal Secretary (PS) of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The incident, which unfolded at the Chief Minister’s residence on Monday morning, has stirred a wave of concern and outrage.

According to reports, Swati Maliwal went to meet Arvind Kejriwal at his residence, where she was awaiting a meeting in the drawing room.

It was during this time that the alleged assault by Bibhav Kumar, the Chief Minister’s PS, occurred.

Maliwal promptly reported the incident to the Civil Lines police station and also made PCR calls to seek assistance.

Senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh addressed the media, confirming the incident and assuring that Arvind Kejriwal has taken cognizance of the matter and will ensure strict action is taken against those involved.

Singh described the incident as “highly condemnable” and emphasized the party’s solidarity with Swati Maliwal, recognizing her significant contributions to both the party and society at large.

Despite Maliwal’s prompt reporting of the assault to the police, formal complaints are yet to be filed.

Nevertheless, the incident has prompted calls for investigation and justice from various quarters.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter, underscoring the importance of ensuring justice for any woman subjected to such acts.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also expressed condemnation and announced plans to dispatch an inquiry team to investigate the incident further.

As the AAP grapples with this internal crisis, the incident underscores broader concerns regarding the safety and treatment of women, particularly within political spheres.

All eyes now remain on the response from both the AAP leadership and law enforcement agencies as they navigate the aftermath of this troubling incident.
