In a tragic incident in Manipur’s Naransena area, armed militants launched a brazen assault, resulting in the deaths of two Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and injuries to two others.

The attack occurred between midnight and 2:15 am on Saturday, sending shockwaves through the region.

According to police reports, the armed militants targeted the CRPF personnel stationed in the Naransena area of Bishnupur district.

The assailants initiated the attack by firing a bomb at the personnel, which detonated within the outpost of the security forces, causing devastation and chaos.

The victims, identified as CRPF sub-inspector N Sarkar and head constable Arup Saini, tragically lost their lives in the line of duty.

Alongside the fatalities, inspector Jadav Das and constable Aftab Hussain sustained severe injuries during the assault. Das and Hussain suffered from splinter wounds inflicted during the militant attack.

The CRPF personnel, members of the 128 Battalion, were deployed to ensure the security of the India Reserve Battalion (IRBn) camp in the area.

However, the assailants launched a relentless assault, firing indiscriminately from hilltop positions, targeting the CRPF camp with deadly precision.

Expressing the gravity of the situation, a senior police officer revealed that the assault commenced around 12:30 am and persisted until approximately 2:15 am.

During this time, the militants not only fired upon the CRPF outpost but also hurled bombs, one of which detonated within the confines of the camp, amplifying the destruction and casualties.

In the aftermath of the attack, a massive search operation was launched to apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the heinous act.

Law enforcement agencies intensified their efforts to track down the militants and bring them to justice for their cowardly assault on the security forces.
