  • Kharge’s son-in-law is the Congress candidate for Kalaburagi
  • Kharge vows to continue politics till his last breath to ‘defeat’ BJP

In a poignant appeal to the people of his hometown, Kalaburagi, Congress President M. Mallikarjun Kharge urged them to consider attending his funeral if they believed he had served them, even if they chose not to support the Congress candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Speaking passionately at a rally in Afzalpur within the district, the 81-year-old leader sought to connect with the electorate on a deeply personal level.

Kharge, a seasoned politician who has represented Kalaburagi in the Lok Sabha in the past, expressed his heartfelt sentiments, indicating that the outcome of the election would profoundly impact his relationship with the constituency.

He emphasized that if voters opted against supporting the Congress candidate, it would signal to him that he no longer held a place in the hearts of the people of Kalaburagi.

The Congress has nominated Kharge’s son-in-law, Radhakrishna Doddamani, as its candidate for the Kalaburagi seat, challenging the incumbent BJP MP Umesh Jadhav.

Kharge’s emotional plea underscored the significance of personal connections and loyalty in politics, transcending party lines.

Acknowledging his commitment to political activism, Kharge asserted that he would continue to remain engaged in public service until his last breath, steadfastly opposing what he perceived as the detrimental ideologies espoused by the BJP and RSS.

He emphasized that retirement from official positions did not equate to retirement from one’s principles, reaffirming his dedication to safeguarding the Constitution and democratic values.

Addressing Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who shared the platform with him, Kharge offered words of advice, urging him to remain steadfast in his commitment to countering the ideologies of the BJP and RSS.

He emphasized the enduring nature of political engagement, asserting that the struggle against opposing ideologies transcended individual roles or positions within the political landscape.
