6-Year-Old Texas Boy Hospitalized After Neighbor’s Baseball Bat Attack

AUSTIN, Texas — A 6-year-old boy in Texas remains hospitalized and unconscious a week after a disturbing incident in which a neighbor allegedly broke into his home and attacked him with a baseball bat.

The young boy sustained multiple skull fractures as a result of the attack, causing his brain to swell, according to an arrest affidavit. The Williamson County sheriff’s office has not yet commented on the motive behind the brutal assault.

The boy’s father declined to provide further information about their relationship with the alleged attacker, Daniel Logan, due to the ongoing investigation. To protect their privacy, he chose not to disclose his family’s last name or his son’s.

A GoFundMe campaign has been established to support the boy’s medical expenses.

The arrest affidavit reveals that after assaulting the boy, Daniel Logan also struck his own mother in the face with the baseball bat. Logan faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, both of which are first-degree felonies carrying a potential prison sentence of up to 99 years. Notably, Logan has no prior criminal record in Texas, as indicated by public records.

The injured boy was described as an active child involved in activities like jiu-jitsu, soccer, and painting. He was bilingual, fluent in Chinese, and studying Chinese characters. He also played the piano and served as a role model and hero to his younger sibling.

Logan’s wife reported being awakened by loud noises on the morning of September 11. She discovered that her husband was missing and observed that their house’s back door was open. Upon further investigation, she noticed a hole in the shared picket fence with their neighbors. Additionally, the back patio door glass of the neighbor’s house had been shattered.

She exited her own home through the back door, where she witnessed disturbing scenes. Logan’s wife saw both her mother-in-law and the boy’s mother screaming inside the neighbor’s house. Logan’s mother was covered in blood from her face down to her shirt, and she frantically informed Logan’s wife that her son was attacking everyone inside.

The incident was reported to the police at 5:17 a.m. on that fateful morning. Logan’s mother, who was also injured, provided details to the authorities during her hospitalization. She recounted seeing her son enter the neighbor’s house with a baseball bat through the shattered patio door. She followed him upstairs, where she discovered the young boy lying unconscious on the floor of an upstairs bedroom.

Logan’s mother stated that she saw him returning downstairs with the bat and confronting a man believed to be the boy’s father. She attempted to intervene, but Logan allegedly struck her across the face with the baseball bat.

The boy’s mother, who was awakened by loud noises downstairs, described her husband attempting to protect the family from Logan.

The investigation into this disturbing incident is ongoing, with the community rallying to support the young boy’s recovery.
