21-year-old Outfielder Joins Chicago Cubs’ Active Roster, Set for MLB Debut

CHICAGO – The Chicago Cubs have made an exciting move by calling up their highly regarded prospect, Pete Crow-Armstrong, to the active roster just in time for their upcoming series against the Colorado Rockies. Crow-Armstrong, a 21-year-old outfielder, is renowned for his exceptional defensive skills and is set to make his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut.

The young talent is expected to be officially activated on Tuesday, as part of the Cubs’ strategy to bolster their lineup, as reported by ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

What makes Pete Crow-Armstrong’s journey to the big leagues even more intriguing is his unique family background, particularly his connection to the world of cinema. His mother, Ashley Crow, famously portrayed the character Jenny Heywood in the 1994 baseball movie “Little Big League.” In the film, Jenny Heywood is the mother of a 12-year-old who unexpectedly becomes the new owner of the Minnesota Twins, resulting in a heartwarming and comedic story. Both of Crow-Armstrong’s parents have successful acting careers, with his mother, Ashley Crow, best known for her role in the TV series “Heroes” and various films, including “Minority Report.” His father, Matthew John Armstrong, has also made appearances in several TV shows, such as “American Dreams,” “Heroes,” and “American Horror Story.”

In terms of baseball talent, Pete Crow-Armstrong has made quite a name for himself. He currently holds the 12th spot on MLB Pipeline’s list of top prospects. Throughout the season, the outfielder has maintained an impressive batting record, hitting .283 with a .365 on-base percentage and a .511 slugging percentage over 500 plate appearances. The Chicago Cubs selected Crow-Armstrong as the 19th overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, drafting him directly from Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles.

As the young outfielder takes his place on the Cubs’ active roster, baseball fans eagerly anticipate the impact he will have on the team and his journey in the Major Leagues.
