Swati Maliwal, AAP Rajya Sabha MP and former Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief, underwent a medical examination at AIIMS, Delhi, following an alleged assault by Bibhav Kumar, an aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The check-up, which lasted over three hours, revealed internal injuries to her face, according to a medico-legal case report.

The Delhi Police have intensified their search for Kumar, with an FIR registered after Maliwal’s statement was recorded at her residence. Maliwal accused Kumar of slapping, kicking, beating her with a stick, and punching her in the stomach.

She claimed the assault involved being hit on “sensitive body parts.”

On Thursday night, Maliwal underwent extensive medical tests at AIIMS, including an X-ray and CT scan.

The Delhi Police team, accompanied by DCW member Vandana Singh, spent over four hours at the hospital, arriving at 11 PM and leaving at 3:15 AM.

The police’s investigation has ramped up, with multiple teams involved. Four teams are specifically focused on tracing Kumar, who is suspected to be in either Amritsar or Maharashtra, where a rally of the INDIA bloc is scheduled.

Maliwal’s statement may be recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, where the victim’s account is given before a judge.

Additionally, police are scrutinizing footage from eight CCTV cameras at the Chief Minister’s residence and will record statements from all individuals who interacted with Maliwal on the day of the incident.

The taxi driver who transported Maliwal to Kejriwal’s house on May 13 will also be questioned.

Poitical Reactions and Protests

The assault allegations have sparked political reactions, with members of the Delhi BJP Mahila Morcha protesting outside Kejriwal’s residence, demanding his resignation. The protesters carried bangles as a symbolic gesture.

The incident was first reported by Maliwal at the Civil Lines police station on Monday. AAP MP Sanjay Singh confirmed the allegations in a press conference, stating that Kumar had “misbehaved” with Maliwal and assured that Kejriwal would take strict action.

As the investigation continues, Delhi Police are working diligently to uncover all details surrounding the case and ensure that justice is served.
