Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ahead of filing his nomination from Varanasi for the third consecutive time, shared a deeply emotional reflection on his profound bond with the ancient city of Kashi and the sacred river Ganga.

Recounting his journey since first contesting the seat in 2014, PM Modi expressed a sense of profound connection, stating that over the years, he had been embraced by the love and affection of the people of Kashi, which he affectionately referred to as being “adopted” by mother Ganga and becoming a “Banarasian” at heart.

In an exclusive interview with India Today, PM Modi’s emotions were palpable as he delved into his spiritual connection with the river Ganga, describing how its significance had become intertwined with his life’s purpose.

He articulated a profound sense of duty, emphasizing that every action he undertakes is imbued with the spirit of worshipping the divine, resonating deeply with the cultural and spiritual ethos of Varanasi.

Reflecting on the wisdom imparted by his late mother, Heeraben Modi, who passed away in 2022, PM Modi shared a poignant moment from her 100th birthday celebration.

He recounted her sage advice, urging him to uphold integrity by refusing bribes and to remain committed to serving the underprivileged.

These words, etched in his memory, serve as guiding principles in his governance and personal conduct.

PM Modi’s commitment to Varanasi was underscored by his decision to contest the Lok Sabha elections from the constituency once again, reaffirming his dedication to the constituents who had entrusted him with their mandate in the past.

Highlighting his overwhelming victory margins in the previous elections, PM Modi expressed confidence in securing another resounding mandate, echoing his ambitious vision for the nation’s future.

Turning his attention to the broader political landscape, PM Modi asserted that the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was poised to secure a commanding victory, surpassing the 400-seat mark in the upcoming polls.

Dismissing the prospects of the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, PM Modi predicted a dismal performance, suggesting that the Gandhi family’s political relevance had waned over time.

In a pointed critique of Rahul Gandhi, PM Modi highlighted the Congress leader’s electoral strategy, noting his departure from Wayanad and subsequent contesting from Raebareli, Sonia Gandhi’s former stronghold.

He attributed Rahul Gandhi’s electoral maneuvering to a recognition of his diminishing political stature, particularly in light of recent electoral setbacks.

Before embarking on the nomination filing process, Prime Minister Modi sought solace and strength in the sacred ambiance of the Dashashwamedh Ghat, where he offered prayers and performed aarti amid the serene chants of Vedic hymns.

This ritualistic homage to the river Ganga encapsulated PM Modi’s reverence for tradition and spirituality, reaffirming his deep-seated connection to the cultural heritage of Varanasi.
