“Allegations of Sexual Abuse By Karnataka MP Spark Political Controversy”

In a gripping political saga, the Congress and the BJP have engaged in a heated battle over the shocking allegations of sexual abuse made against Prajwal Revanna, a sitting MP and NDA candidate from Karnataka’s Hassan constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections in 2024.

Prajwal, who is the grandson of JD(S) patriarch and former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, has been accused of engaging in explicit sexual activities with multiple women, as evidenced by video clips that have recently come to light.

The case has taken a dramatic turn as Prajwal has reportedly fled the country following the establishment of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) by the Karnataka government to probe the matter.

Interestingly, HD Kumaraswamy, Prajwal’s uncle and prominent JD(S) leader, has distanced himself from the controversy, affirming that the party will not shield him.

Declaring his stance as both an uncle and a concerned citizen, Kumaraswamy emphasized the need to address the issue transparently, highlighting its disgraceful nature.

He expressed that JD(S) has consistently fought against illegal activities of this nature and urged the government to uncover the truth behind the allegations.

Despite Kumaraswamy’s neutral position, the Congress and BJP have wasted no time in accusing each other regarding this scandal. The ruling party in Karnataka has pointed fingers at the BJP, suggesting that they have been safeguarding Prajwal.

In turn, the BJP has fired back, accusing the Congress of indulging in dirty politics and manipulating the situation to their advantage.

Notably, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, while criticizing the Congress, questioned why no action had been taken by them, considering that the state is governed by the Congress.

He clarified that law and order fall under the jurisdiction of the state government and thus, it is their responsibility to address the issue.

Shah added that the BJP supports and welcomes any investigation into the matter, and JD(S), their coalition partner, has also pledged to take appropriate action.

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, highlighting the fact that they had shared the stage with Prajwal and even sought votes for him.

She questioned how such a grave crime could go unnoticed and how Prajwal managed to flee the country undetected. Gandhi emphasized the stark contrast between the government’s ability to track opposition leaders’ movements and their apparent failure to capture a criminal.

Karnataka BJP President B Y Vijayendra vehemently denied any involvement of his party in the controversy, accusing the Congress of indulging in malicious politics by targeting the BJP and Prime Minister Modi.

In response, senior Congress leader Ajoy Kumar held the BJP and the Prime Minister responsible for Prajwal’s flight from the country, alleging their complicity in enabling his escape.

As the political firestorm raged on, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge accused the BJP of facilitating Prajwal’s escape, claiming that they were responsible for his departure from the country.

Kharge placed direct blame on the BJP, intensifying the acrimony surrounding the case.

Adding to the turmoil, Nagalakshmi Choudhary, the Chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women, characterized the scandal involving Prajwal Revanna as the most significant in India’s history.

Choudhary revealed that the pen drive submitted to her contained hundreds of videos, some of which allegedly implicated Prajwal. She intends to write to the National Women’s Commission to shed light on what she considers a grave national scandal.

Within JD(S) itself, MLA Sharana Gowda Kandakur has written to party president HD Deve Gowda, urging the immediate expulsion of Prajwal Revanna in order to protect the party’s reputation from further embarrassment.

Prajwal is already facing charges under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman.

With the allegations against Prajwal Revanna gaining momentum, the political battleground continues to intensify as both the Congress and the BJP strive to outmaneuver each other while grappling with the complex and serious issue at hand.
