“Congress Veteran Ramniwas Rawat Joins BJP Ahead of 2024 Lok Sabha Elections”

In a significant development ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Ramniwas Rawat, a six-time MLA from Madhya Pradesh representing the Congress party, has decided to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

This move has dealt another major blow to the Congress party’s prospects in the upcoming elections.

Rawat, who currently serves as a sitting MLA from the Vijaypur assembly constituency in Sheopur, officially became a member of the BJP on Tuesday.

His induction into the party took place in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, state BJP chief VD Sharma, former minister Narottam Mishra, and other prominent party members.

The BJP seized upon Rawat’s decision to switch parties, characterizing it as a manifestation of the discontent brewing within the Congress ranks.

Rajneesh Agarwal, a spokesperson for the BJP, highlighted the internal turmoil within the Congress and suggested that Rawat’s move represented an open rebellion against the leadership of the grand old party.

Agarwal criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly making baseless statements and accused the party of pursuing policies that were detrimental to the interests of certain communities.

On the other hand, Congress leader KK Mishra expressed regret over Rawat’s departure from the party, acknowledging his contributions and stature within the organization.

Mishra indicated that despite efforts to persuade Rawat to remain with the Congress, his decision to join the BJP was ultimately irrevocable.

The timing of Rawat’s defection is particularly significant as the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh are currently underway, taking place in four phases.

The first two phases of polling were conducted on April 19 and April 26, with the remaining phases scheduled for May 7 and May 13.

The results of the elections will be announced on June 4, shaping the political landscape of Madhya Pradesh and the country as a whole.
