Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has been lodged in Tihar Jail’s Cell No. 2, alongside notorious figures such as underworld don Chhota Rajan, gangster Neeraj Bawana, and alleged terrorist Ziaur Rehman.
This comes after Kejriwal was remanded to judicial custody for two weeks in connection with the defunct Delhi liquor policy case.
Chhota Rajan, once associated with Dawood Ibrahim, turned into a fierce rival. Neeraj Bawana, known for over 40 cases including murder and extortion, is another prominent figure in the jail. Ziaur Rehman is believed to be linked to the Indian Mujahideen (IM) group.
Earlier, AAP leader Sanjay Singh, also implicated in the same case, was initially housed in Jail No. 2 but has since been relocated to Jail No. 5. Meanwhile, Kejriwal’s former deputy, Manish Sisodia, occupies a cell in Jail No. 1, while BRS leader K Kavitha is situated in Jail No. 6, designated for women.
Kejriwal’s first night in Tihar was reportedly restless. Being diabetic, he received home-cooked dinner upon arrival, along with essentials like mattresses and blankets.
The following morning, he was served breakfast comprising bread and tea. Kejriwal engaged in meditation and yoga in his cell, where CCTV cameras keep a constant watch.
Due to low sugar levels, he continues to receive home-cooked meals until his health stabilizes. Additionally, he is permitted a five-minute phone call with family members daily and has requested meetings with specific individuals, including his wife and children, as well as aides.
