Georgia Holds Strong at No. 1 in US LBM Coaches Poll Amid Top Five Shake-Up

In a dynamic shift for the second consecutive week, the latest US LBM Coaches Poll reveals notable changes within the top five collegiate football rankings.

Georgia continues to assert its dominance, firmly securing the No. 1 spot, as it received all but one of the 65 first-place votes in this week’s poll. Michigan maintains its position at No. 2, clinching the remaining first-place vote.

The shake-up begins at No. 3, primarily due to Alabama’s unexpected loss at the hands of Texas. Florida State makes a remarkable ascent to the third position, leapfrogging over Ohio State. Southern California also advances to No. 5, narrowly fending off Texas by a single poll point. The Longhorns make significant progress, climbing four places, thanks to their impressive victory in Tuscaloosa.

Penn State, Washington, and Tennessee maintain their rankings, while Alabama experiences a significant setback, plummeting seven positions to No. 10. The Crimson Tide now find themselves just 12 points ahead of Notre Dame.

Duke and Colorado both make notable gains, securing the No. 20 and No. 21 spots, respectively. For Duke, this marks their highest ranking since October 25, 2015, while the Buffs achieve their highest rating since October 7, 2018.

Further down the rankings, No. 23 Miami (Fla.) makes its season debut in the poll following their victory over Texas A&M. Additionally, No. 24 Iowa and No. 25 UCLA enter the poll, replacing the departing Texas A&M, Wisconsin, and Tulane.

These shifts in the rankings reflect the dynamic and competitive landscape of collegiate football, setting the stage for an exciting season ahead.
